WHAT IS IT?
A 4-day program of interactive, fun-filled activities designed specifically for children who use augmentative and alternative communication (AAC) systems to talk. Our program gives these children opportunities to communicate with other children who use AAC, to develop their language skills and use their devices in new and exciting ways. The camp includes an AAC training seminar for parents. An excursion to a local cultural/historical attraction, swimming, shopping and optional one-on-one consultations with clinical experts in AAC are also offered.
PROGRAM: We're delighted to announce that this summer's camp program will include a visit to the Pittsburgh Children's Museum for a specially designed program of AAC interactive activities! We will also be offering an exercise/movement session led by faculty from the Adaptive Recreation department of Slippery Rock University.
WHO CAN ATTEND?
Children and young adults (ages 5 to 21 years) who use any kind of AAC system for all or part of their communication. Novices and experienced users are welcome. All campers must be accompanied by one adult. Silblings of comparable age are welcome to accompany the camper (additional fee required). Camp activities are designed for all levels of mobility.
